Crystal Palace are prepared to do everything in their power to keep Daniel Munoz at the club despite growing interest from European giants including Barcelona.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Barcelona could step up their interest in the right-back in January.

Munoz’s recent injury was a blow to Crystal Palace and his absence was felt as Oliver Glasner’s side lost 3-0 to Man City, with Nathaniel Clyne filling it.

As a result, it has become even more clear how important the Colombia international has been to their success, and any suggestions he could leave will be dismissed.

Football Insider revealed last month that Crystal Palace will demand a huge fee for Munoz, despite reports they could accept as little as £25million.

Crystal Palace make firm Daniel Munoz exit decision

Brown told Football Insider on 14 November that Crystal Palace hope to keep Munoz beyond the January transfer window despite the growing interest.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted the right-wing-back remains a crucial part of the way Palace play.

“*Crystal Palace will do everything in their power to keep their best players,*” he told Football Insider.

“Munoz is certainly one of those, and we’ve seen with Clyne filling in there in recent games how important he really is with the energy he brings.

“Clyne has done okay, he’s filled in and done what’s been asked of him, but there’s a bid drop off in their play that Palace can’t afford long-term.

“If Munoz was to leave, they’re losing that 10-15 per cent every week, on top of somebody like Marc Guehi leaving which is another 10-15-20 per cent drop off.

“A team like Palace, as good as they are and have been over the last 18 months, know they have to keep hold of their best players.

“With the January window coming up, clubs are going to start stepping up that interest, and if it’s Barcelona who want Munoz then they could make a move.

“But from Palace’s point of view, they have no intentions of letting him go, and hope they can keep him at the club despite that interest.”

Man United remain in race to sign Munoz

Brown told Football Insider on 17 November that Man United could explore signing Munoz in January after being alerted to his interest in joining.

This comes after Munoz opened the door to joining Man United after admitting it would be a “dream” to play for the likes of United, Barcelona, PSG or Real Madrid.

His comments are believed to have set clubs on alert over his potential availability, but the Eagles still see him as a crucial part of their ambitious future plans.

Brown told Football Insider that Crystal Palace would speak to Munoz about his comments to seek clarity on his intentions ahead of the transfer window.

While there are no plans to let him leave, there is an awareness at Selhurst Park that should he push for a move, they may be forced into a decision.
