**Liverpool are reportedly ready to make their move for Crystal Palace and England centre-back Marc Guehi, but are far from alone in that respect.**
The 25-year-old has been one of the Reds’ most talked-about transfer targets since the summer, having missed out on signing him on deadline day.
Guehi has continued to shine for Palace, despite being frustratingly robbed of a move to Liverpool after completing a medical and agreeing a £35m move, highlighting his professionalism.
Now, [_TEAMtalk_](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/marc-guehi-exclusive-man-city-liverpool-bayern-munich-barcelona-most-wanted-free-agent-of-all-time) claim that the Reds “have confirmed to the player’s camp that they are ready to offer him terms”, with the same also applying to Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham.
Guehi himself hasn’t yet made up his mind on his next club, and a January switch isn’t out of the question, with a source offering more information on the situation:
_“Marc is doing his thing, he is very happy with his form, and if you ask him, his main focus is on Palace and England ahead of the World Cup finals._
_“He is leaving his agents to assess his options, and they have told him he literally is going to have his pick of clubs. His people told him he is going to be one of the most wanted free agents of all time, if he leaves on a free, and that is exactly how things are panning out.”_
**Guehi still Liverpool’s strongest centre-back option**
--------------------------------------------------------
Liverpool clearly value Guehi as a player, hence so nearly signing him in the summer, and his performances this season won’t have altered their opinion.
He will surely still be considered the leading centre-back option for the Premier League, even if it means waiting until the end of the current campaign, should Palace not want to budge in January. That is still up in the air.
Guehi would be a fantastic signing for Liverpool, having once been dubbed an “absolute tank” by goalkeeper [Josef Bursik](https://onefootball.com/en/news/chelsea-defender-marc-guehi-dubbed-absolute-tank-by-england-u21-teammates-32682088), ticking so many boxes.
Not only is the Palace captain a top-quality defender combining quality on the ball with expert positional sense, but he is also a strong leader who carries himself with class.
There is huge interest in Guehi, and rightly so, but if Liverpool can beat many of their rivals to his signature, it will feel like a major coup.
