Indiana Pacers star point guard and Wisconsin native Tyrese Haliburton said back in April during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” that he was supposed to throw out a ceremonial first pitch during a Milwaukee Brewers game in the summer of 2024 – but that did not push through, allegedly because the Pacers took out the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs.
But there’s an opportunity that has just come up for Haliburton to do the first pitch in an MLB game, courtesy of none other than the reigning World Series champions Los Angeles Dodgers.
Tyrese Haliburton to throw first pitch in 2026 Brewers-Dodgers game
During an appearance on Amazon’s “Good Sports with Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts extended an offer to Haliburton to throw out the first pitch in August against, well, the Brewers.
Here’s what Roberts said:
“Yeah, so I definitely am a huge Tyrese fan. I love his game. I love what he’s about. I did see him rocking the Otani jersey. And so as a back-to-back champion, we got the Brewers in August this summer. And I know Tyrese isn’t gonna be working. So I want to take make amends with throwing up the first hit. I’d like to offer him the first pitch at Dodger Stadium, and he can rock that Ohtani jersey in its rightful place. So if you’re willing, the offer is there for you. It’s from the Dodgers to you, Tyrese.”
Of course, the former Iowa State Cyclones star wasn’t going to pass up on that chance.
“I will be there,” the two-time NBA All-Star responded.
Haliburton’s appearance in that Brewers-Dodgers game adds flavor to that meeting. Apart from the fact that he plays for a major Bucks rival in the NBA, Haliburton will also be showing support for the same team that swept the Brewers in the 2025 National League Championship Series.
