Liverpool player mocked as‘biggest loser’in world football this season

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has been labelled the ‘biggest loser’ in world football after his recent antics.

SportBILD give him the honour today in a piece on winners and losers from 2025. The journalist, Axel Hesse, has continued his recent targeting of Salah.

He says that the Egyptian superstar can leave Liverpool in the January transfer window if he wants to. That’s because Arne Slot has won ‘the most important battle’ of his time at Liverpool with the forward.

He’s welcomed Salah back into the fold after his outburst just over a week ago. This came after a discussion with Liverpool’s bosses and owners.

A mediation meeting was held on Friday, but Slot had spoken to Salah before this. He made it clear to him that he was still in his plans and how long he would be given on the pitch.

But, crucially, behind the scenes he’s received the backing of the club’s management. In fact, this was given to him before the big meeting on Friday. As a result, Salah has been left as ‘probably the biggest loser of season’ in international football.

Whatever the objective of his comments were, they have not worked. He’s gone from being the undisputed star to the focus in a ‘floundering’ team.

Now he’s headed to AFCON and Hesse says he is ‘unlikely to return’. A move to Saudi Arabia is still considered probable. Slot and Liverpool are prepared to let him go. In fact, they’ve used the recent drama as justification to ‘drastically reduce’ Salah’s asking price.

If the right offer doesn’t come in, he can leave on a free anyway. The asking price is currently €70m, which is ‘feasible’ for Saudi clubs. Had he acted different, he would likely be staying at Liverpool. Instead, the end is nigh.
