Liverpool have been trying to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace since the 2025 summer transfer window.
The Premier League champions made a £35m offer for Guehi earlier this year, which was turned down.
The centre-back is now about to enter the final six months of his Crystal Palace contract before becoming a free agent in June.

Bayern Munich are planning talks with Guehi as they can agree a pre-contract with the stopper from January 1, given that they are a foreign club.
But it has been suggested that Liverpool could U-turn on the defender and make a move this winter, despite previous claims made after the injury to Giovanni Leoni that they would wait until the summer before signing a centre-back.
Why Liverpool might not sign Marc Guehi
Well, Jamie Carragher now has a theory about the England international and why his height could play a role in Liverpool looking at alternative options.
Speaking on the Echo Of Glory podcast, he said: “I’ve actually got a theory on Marc Guehi. I think Liverpool should have done a deal, and it’s blown up in their face.

“But when Liverpool were going to do the deal for Marc Guehi, it wasn’t to come in and replace Konate, it was to provide competition, and fight for a place.
“I think with the form of Konate, I think Liverpool should be looking for someone to replace Konate and become first-choice, and that’s different.
“Marc Guehi is a very good centre-back, but he’s not as big as Konate. Liverpool have had a problem this season with set-pieces and long throws, so I’d find it strange to bring in a centre-back smaller than the one you’ve got.
“In general play, I’m sure he will perform better than Konate, but I don’t know if Liverpool’s focus will change to someone who is six foot three, six foot four, maybe a long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk.
“I’m intrigued, I’m just thinking would Guehi replace Konate rather than provide competition, but I think Liverpool need two centre-backs.”

Liverpool centre-back alternatives
Whether or not Carragher’s theory is correct remains to be seen, but there are a couple more potential centre-back options the Reds have been linked to.
RTK revealed last month that Liverpool were contacted over a possible Alessandro Bastoni transfer, with the Inter Milan ace said to be eyeing a move in 2026.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Nico Schlotterbeck will not sign a new contract at Borussia Dortmund.
Liverpool are one of the teams interested in the German, who stands at 1.91m, or 6ft 3in tall.
