Bucks forward's injury considered season-ending

The Milwaukee Bucks have applied for a disabled player exception after Taurean Prince underwent neck surgery and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

The Milwaukee Bucks have applied for a disabled player exception following a major injury to forward Taurean Prince, according to Eric Nehm of The Athletic.

Milwaukee Bucks / Schedule

Prince underwent neck surgery last month to address a herniated disk and is officially listed as out indefinitely.

The report indicates that the Bucks believe the 31-year-old wing is likely to miss the remainder of the season.

An NBA team is eligible for a disabled player exception when a player suffers an injury that is deemed more likely than not to keep him sidelined through June 15 of the league year.

If granted, the exception can be used to acquire a player on an expiring contract via trade or waiver claim, or to sign a free agent to a one-year deal. If approved, the Bucks' exception would be worth $1,651,887 for Prince.

Prince appeared in eight games this season, averaging 6.1 points and 1.6 rebounds. This is his second season with Milwaukee and the 10th of his NBA career.
