Wayne Rooney thinks Ekitike is brilliant, and the Frenchman already has seven Premier League goals in seven starts, the last of which came in a 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion this past Saturday.
While it’s great to see a proper centre-forward now thriving at Anfield again, Jamie Carragher has chosen to compare another Liverpool player to club legend Kenny Dalglish.

Speaking on the Echo Of Glory podcast this week, the ex-centre-back was discussing Mohamed Salah.
When doing so, he claimed the younger generation of fans now view the 33-year-old how previous eras saw Dalglish and Steven Gerrard.

He said: “With Mo Salah, he is the Kenny Dalglish, he is the Steven Gerrard of this era.
“With Liverpool fans who are teenagers or early 20s, they don’t remember those players and this guy is their favourite Liverpool player, they love and adore him.”
Salah made history recently, with his assist against Brighton meaning he now has the most goal contributions of any player at one Premier League club, surpassing the previous leader, Rooney.
He’s firmly cemented himself as one of the all-time greats, but still has some way to go if he is to become Liverpool’s all-time top scorer.

Where Mohamed Salah and Kenny Dalglish rank among Liverpool’s all-time top goalscorers
Dalglish found the back of the net on 172 occasions for the Reds in all competitions, putting him eighth in the all-time rankings.
Meanwhile, Salah’s 250 goals place the winger third, 35 away from second-place Roger Hunt.
Ian Rush remains Liverpool’s all-time top goalscorer with 346 goals netted in over 600 appearances.
The Egyptian certainly has the quality to eventually surpass the former Wrexham man, but given his future at Anfield has been questioned going into 2026, he may not be around long enough for that to happen.
