Bristol City have agreed a deal to sign former Liverpool youngster Ranel Young on a free transfer, sources have told Football Insider.
Young, 19, is a free agent after cancelling his contract at Serbian side FK Usce after less than six months at the club.
The skilful winger joined FK Usce on a free transfer after leaving Liverpool last summer, but is now set for a move back to the UK with The Robins.
Bristol City are pushing for the play-offs in the Championship this season, and they are now about to add to their squad ahead of the January transfer window, with Young having already trained with his new teammates.

Ranel Young’s goalscoring record for Liverpool’s academy
Bristol City are sitting 11th in the Championship at the moment, but look set to receive a welcome boost ahead of the mid-season window with Young on his way through the door.
The 19-year-old left the Liverpool academy setup at the start of the summer after he opted against extending his contract, and then surprised everybody with his next move.

The wideman joined Belgrade-based FK Usce in the Serbian second tier, but managed just five appearances for his new team before deciding to call time on his stay there.
Young is now set to join the ranks at Bristol City, after a youth career that saw him quickly progress through the age group sides at Anfield.
The starlet managed four goals for the U21 side in Premier League 2 last season, and also earned his first matchday involvement with Arne Slot’s first-team squad, when he was an unused substitute in the Carabao Cup against Brighton in October 2024.

Young also has experience of playing in the UEFA Youth League, which is contested by the teams that feature in the Champions League during that campaign.
Ranel Young to provide cover in attack for Bristol City
Bristol City received interest in Fally Mayulu from Leicester City in the summer, but were ultimately able to keep hold of the Frenchman.
He forms part of the attacking group at Ashton Gate that needs reinforcements, with Emil Riis Jakobsen and Sinclair Armstrong the only other senior options to lead the line.
Scott Twine and Anis Mehmeti have regularly been used in a second-striker role, and with that in mind, Gerhard Struber could initially view Young as a project for the future.
The former Liverpool youngster lacks the EFL experience of some of the current group, so it would be no surprise to see him start on the fringes of the squad, or potentially even be sent out on loan in January.
