DeMar DeRozan and Vince Carter always will be two of the most iconic Toronto Raptors.

DeRozan is Toronto’s all-time scoring leader while Carter leads in points per game with the Raptors and, fittingly, DeRozan just passed Carter on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.
STARTING TO SLOW DOWN
Now 36, DeRozan is averaging under 20 points per game for the first time since 2012-13, but his assault on the NBA’s record books continues. Last week he leapt to 23rd on the scoring list by passing Carter.
NBA scoring has gone way up over the past decade, but it’s still remarkable that DeRozan got to 25,728 points far quicker than Carter, who played in nearly 300 more career games.

Don’t expect DeRozan to catch the guy just in front of him, 2009 draft-mate Stephen Curry, but both should crack the NBA’s Top 15 before they retire.
DeRozan is sixth amongst active players in scoring, trailing all-time leader LeBron James, Kevin Durant, James Harden (also from the 2009 draft), Russell Westbrook and Curry. That said, he has been held under 15 points in three of his past five games and who knows what’s going on in Sacramento these days or what’s next for one of the league’s most-troubled franchises.

DeRozan previously passed Alex English this season. English was a Raptors assistant coach early in DeRozan’s career.
He also recently leap-frogged the likes of Reggie Miller, Jerry West, Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley, Ray Allen and Allen Iverson. Not bad.
DeRozan’s close friend Kyle Lowry has a Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame resume and, given his scoring exploits, DeRozan might get there one day too. Every player in the Top 40 either is already enshrined or will be.
