There have been encouraging signs that Liverpool coach Arne Slot is beginning to steady the ship at Anfield. After losing nine of 12 matches earlier in the season, Liverpool are now unbeaten in five games, winning three and drawing two.
While draws against newly promoted sides were frustrating, victories over West Ham United, Inter Milan and Brighton, all with clean sheets, offered genuine optimism. The win over Brighton also marked Mohamed Salah’s final appearance of 2025 before he joined up with Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations. Notably, Liverpool’s unbeaten run has coincided with Salah being left out of the starting XI, with the 33-year-old not having started since the 4-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven at the end of October.
Liverpool have officially confirmed that two Premier League fixtures have been rescheduled in February. The Reds host Manchester City on Sunday, February 8, with a 16:30 GMT kick-off, seeking revenge for last month’s defeat at the Etihad. Three days later, Liverpool travel to Sunderland for the first time in nine years, with the match scheduled for Wednesday, February 11 at 20:15 GMT. The Black Cats, currently eighth, held Liverpool to a draw at Anfield earlier this month.
After an FA Cup break, Liverpool return to league action away at Nottingham Forest on Saturday, February 21, before hosting West Ham on Saturday, February 28. If the Reds fail to secure automatic Champions League qualification, they will also face a two-legged play-off during the midweeks surrounding those fixtures. New details are listed as follows (kick-off times GMT): Liverpool v Manchester City – Sunday, February 8 (4.30pm), live on Sky Sports; Sunderland v Liverpool – Wednesday, February 11 (8.15pm), live on TNT Sports.
