After a scary fall in a recent game, Miami Heat forward Nikola Jovic said he thought his injury was much worse than the latest update shows.

TheMiami Heat are the latest team tobe hit with the injury bug, and over the past few days,it’s hit them hard. Most recently, the team got updates on the recent injuries of Tyler Herro, Norman Powell, and Nikola Jovic.

For Herro,he’s been dealing with a toe injury, and after a recent MRI, he was held out of practice againafter missing a week of games. Powell, luckily, playing at an All-Star level, missed theteam’sWednesday practicewith calf tightness, but after coming back from a recent ankle injury, itisn’t considered that serious.

Most notably for Miami, theygot an update on Jovic, who suffered a scary fall in a recent game against the Raptors, suffering an elbow injury. An MRI confirmed thathe’d be day to day, but now, the young forwardis expected to be out at least a week.

“Jovic is also optimistic that he will be able to return to game action soon after X-rays and an MRI on his injured right arm came back clean,”Anthony Chiang wrote for the Miami Herald. “Jovic said he considers himself to be week-to-week.”

So far this season, the Heat have somewhat exceeded expectations, currently holding a 14-12 record, sitting ninth in the East, but the recent injuries could foreshadow a brutal next few weeks.

Tyler Herro Injury Update

While hemight notbe seen as theHeat’s franchise playerwith his performances this season, Herrostill remains extremely valuablefor Miami. He’s put up averages of 23.2 points, five rebounds, and 2.3 assist son 50.3% shooting, thoughhe’s appeared in only six games, mostly in recovery from offseason ankle surgery.

Herro’s status as available has bounced back and forth over the past two games, but after most recentlybeing consideredday to day, hedidn’t participate in practice, further clouding his status as the seasongoes along.

The star guard spoke further with Chiang about his injury and what he expects regarding a full return from his bruised toe.

“Ithasn’t really gotten better, so I tried to warm up, and I justwasn’t feeling right that night,”Herro said of his availability forMiami’s matchup against Toronto.“I probablyshouldn’t have practiced. That kind of like sparked things back up.SoI’m just trying to control the swelling and the inflammation, and then from there I cankind of decide what I want to do from there.”

Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra also commented on lastseason’s All-Star from Miami.

“We want to make sure that we get him feeling good about his foot and his toe,”the legendary head coach told Chiang.

Nikola Jovic Injury Update

WhileHerro’s uncertainty was already clear to start the season after his summer surgery, the injury to Jovic could have the Heat a bit more worried. After his scary fall, the news from the MRI came back positive, though still not ideal for the rising 22-year-old.

“He fell hard to the floor, and after being tended to by the Heat training staff, he exited for the locker room for additional evaluation,”ESPN staff wrote on his initial elbow injury. “Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said afterward thatJovic’s elbow was bleeding and that he ‘lost all feeling in his hand because it was a massive stinger.‘”

Though Jovicwasoriginally listed as day-to-day,he’ll now officially miss theteam’s next few games. Speaking again with Chiang, the Serbian said the final news on his injurywasn’t as bad as he was initially expecting.

“I was scared I broke my arm, because Ididn’t feel anything and I just saw a lot of blood,”Jovic said. “And they werereally scared, too, because I had a pretty deep and a big cut, too…Butit’s not broken, so I guessthat’s the most important thing and I thinkI’ll be back really soon.”

Though it was frightening at the moment, the news that hewon’t be out for a significant period of time.

As for Powell, heisn’t expected to stay too long on the injury report, but the calf tightness did force him to missMiami’s latest practice. The Heat also has Pelle Larsson listed on their injury report, but like Powell,he’s also listed as day-to-day.

As for Terry Rozier, his status is still uncertain, with NBA commissioner Adam Silver failing to address his plans for the guard in his latest press conference.
