Jonathan Kuminga role with the Golden State Warriors remains uncertain after multiple changes in the rotation and recent DNPs. Head coach Steve Kerr said Kuminga earned another chance after a strong week of practice.
Golden State Warriors continue to search for answers as the season moves forward, with inconsistency becoming a major theme. One of the biggest questions around the team has been the role of Jonathan Kuminga and his place in the rotation.
Golden State Warriors / Schedule
Kuminga opened the season as a starter and showed good energy on both ends of the floor. His athleticism and ability to attack the rim gave the Warriors a different look.
However, his role changed quickly. He moved to the bench, dealt with an injury, and has recently received multiple DNPs as the coaching staff adjusted lineups.
Despite the recent absence from game action, head coach Steve Kerr believes Kuminga is ready for another opportunity. Kerr pointed to a strong week of practice as the reason for a possible return.
“I’m gonna reward that,” Kerr said via reporter Nick Friedell. “He needs to be back out there.”
Kuminga last played against the Cleveland Cavaliers, finishing with 4 points while shooting 1 for 10 from the field. Since that game, the Warriors have played three times without him seeing the floor.
