After a Premier League win against Brighton & Hove Albion, Arne Slot is already looking ahead to Liverpool’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur this Saturday. The Reds are now unbeaten in their last five games across all competitions and have a full midweek to prepare for the encounter against Spurs.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Joe Gomez were both casualties of the match against the Seagulls. Slot has confirmed that Gomez will likely miss the game against Thomas Frank’s side, while hope for Szoboszlai is brighter, with a return more likely after his ankle injury. After 16 league games, Liverpool sit seventh in the Premier League with 26 points, just two points off the top four. Chelsea currently occupy fourth place ahead of Crystal Palace, Manchester United, and the Reds.

Looking ahead to the January transfer window, several players have been linked with Liverpool, including Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi and in-form Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo. Mohamed Salah’s future at Anfield also remains uncertain following his explosive interview after the 3-3 draw with Leeds United.

According to Anfield Index, Liverpool are considering a move for Celta Vigo defender Oscar Mingueza. The 26-year-old’s contract is set to expire this summer, presenting the Reds with two potential options. They could either sign him for a cut-price fee in January or agree a pre-contract deal for him to join Merseyside in the summer.

Primarily deployed as a right-back, Mingueza can also provide cover at centre-back and left-back. A number of Premier League clubs are interested in the Spanish international. Oscar Mingueza has racked up 20 appearances, scored once, and provided three assists for Celta Vigo in all competitions this season.

At present, a summer move appears more likely, though a January swoop cannot be ruled out, particularly given Liverpool’s recent injury concerns. Summer signing Giovanni Leoni is out for the season with an ACL injury, while Slot currently has just Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate available as centre-backs due to Gomez’s injury over the weekend.
