GAINESVILLE, FL (WCJB): The Rock basketball program has become synonymous with greats on the hardwood. Joel Embiid went from The Rock to NBA MVP, along with many others.
The lone senior on the Lions is carrying the legacy this season. Jafari Hicks is made for the game, much like the legends before him.
The impact has been major from hicks who has been at The Rock school his entire life, putting down the basketball in elementary school, picking it back up just last year.
With the Rock consistently being a top 10 team in the state, focus shifts to the defensive efforts of hicks. The 6-foot-7 senior.
The epitome of the first to show up and the last to leave with a 3.8 gpa and also making an impact in the hallways as a member of Spanish Club, FBLA, Forge and student leadership.
Hicks hopes to pursue a degree, also courtside in physical therapy and athletic training.
