Roy Keane backs Everton star to score first goal of the season vs Arsenal

Everton return to the Hill Dickinson Stadium for the final time this year on Saturday when they welcome Arsenal to Merseyside.

The game on the docks will prove a difficult one for Everton for a number of reasons given they’re coming up against the Premier League leaders.

David Moyes will have his own issues to worry about, though, with the Blues potentially missing a host of big-name players.

Iliman Nidaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye are definitely out of the game having jetted off for the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this week.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall sustained a hamstring injury at the weekend against Chelsea and so did Jack Grealish in the final minutes of the game.

Although fans still await an update over the pair, Roy Keane has disagreed with Ian Wright’s prediction for the game on the docks.

“I think we beat them. I would like to know if Gabriel [Magalhaes] is back, but I still say we beat them,” said Wright.

“I think Everton might get one from a set piece; Tarkowski. 2-1 Arsenal. That’s on Jill [Scott] and Wrighty,” replied Keane.

“I would have gone 3-0,” Wright added.

In his last prediction, Keane backed Everton and Nottingham Forest to draw, but he did defend the Blues against Gary Neville’s prediction of a loss.

Saturday is going to be a completely different game for Everton, who could be set to hand out some rare minutes to players due to their injury crisis.

Everton battling dreadful record against Arsenal

As if Everton’s injury issues were not bad enough, the Blues are going to have to defy the recent history books to secure three points on Saturday.

Records have been there to be broken this season for Everton, though.

Moyes got his first win at Old Trafford just last month and Everton ended their 40-year curse down at Bournemouth.

The unwanted record at Stamford Bridge continues until next season, but this side has shown a lot of resilience over the opening months of the term.

Saturday may well prove a step too far, but fans will expect a hard-fought showing from their side at the very least.
