Liverpool are set to face Tottenham Hotspur this Saturday, aiming to continue their recent winning streak.

Arne Slot has seemingly managed to turn things around after a challenging period that saw him facing scrutiny over his position, while a heated disagreement with Mo Salah has also been a thorn in the Liverpool boss's side.

The situation with Salah appears to be settling down after Slot and the player held discussions. Liverpool are now just two points shy of the top four, with Chelsea currently holding that coveted position. And Daily Star Sportbrings you all the latest updates from Anfield.

Egypt may have secured a 2-1 victory over Nigeria in their only warm-up match ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, but they had to do so without their star player, Salah, reports the Mirror.

Salah joined up with his international colleagues ahead of AFCON, where he'll lead the Pharaohs as captain. However, the Liverpool legend was omitted from their matchday squad on Tuesday by boss Hossam Hassan, despite Salah being benched for Liverpool's previous five fixtures.

Mahmoud Saber and Mostafa Mohamed found the net for the home side in Cairo, securing victory in their sole preparation match before launching their AFCON campaign next Monday. Egypt have been placed in a group containing Zimbabwe, South Africa and Angola.

Harvey Elliott departed Liverpool for Villa on a season-long loan deal on transfer deadline day, but the switch has proved catastrophic for the midfielder.

Don Hutchinson, the former Liverpool and Everton ace, has called on Slot to reintegrate the two-time Premier League champion, Elliott, back into the squad. Capable of playing as a winger or an attacking midfielder, Elliott could potentially step in for Salah.

"If you're Liverpool, you're probably best off bringing him back and keeping him in the squad," Hutchinson advised during an interview with oddsboom.
