Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be pleased with how his side are performing as we get closer to the halfway stage in the Premier League.

The Gunners’ recruitment over the summer has generated a lot of praise from fans and pundits alike, as they were able to add not only depth, but significantly more quality in every area of the pitch. One of the players who has helped transform Arsenal is Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi.

Arteta says Zubimendi can become a manager in the future

The Gunners boss has been full of praise for Zubimendi this week, suggesting that the Arsenal midfielder is more than capable of becoming a manager in the future because of his tactical knowledge, and the mindset you need to be a successful central midfielder.

Speaking to TNT Sports Arteta said: “He [Zubimendi] is the position that connects everybody. Your approach is ‘my aim is to make the people around me, and the team function better’, so you are thinking the same things as a manager, and in order to achieve that you have to understand a lot of what is happening around the game, and why the game is taking certain directions.

“I think Martin obviously has the qualities to do that, and we have all the qualities around him in the midfield that I think compliments him very good. You know how difficult it is to do it in this league, but I think he’s been exceptional.”

So far this season, Zubimendi has made 16 Premier League appearances for the Gunners, scoring two goals, and providing one assist since joining from Real Sociedad for a fee of £51m in the summer transfer window.
