Marc Guehi to Liverpool is a rumour that simply will not go away, with Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner constantly being asked about it.
The Reds have been very open about their interest in Guehi, especially as the Englishman should probably have been a Liverpool player already if they had not waited until the last minute of the last window.
They still appear desperate to get him too, and rightly so, with the 25-year-old only getting even better this season.

When exactly Liverpool make a move for him is yet to be seen, but his manager Glasner has just dropped big news that indicates exactly when he could go.

Liverpool need a centre-back in January no matter what, with their options being severely limited.
Guehi would be the number one target, especially as Palace are a selling club and might prefer to sell for a cut-price rather than lose him for nothing, or at least that is what most people expected.

But now, it looks like he could stay until the summer, with Glasner making a pretty clear prediction about what he thinks is going to happen to his captain.

āI think Marc will stay until the end of the season,ā he said when asked about Guehiās future as per the Liverpool Echo.
This could have been expected given that it is a World Cup year so Guehi would want some consistency going into the tournament, but it is certainly a big blow for the Reds.
They will face stiff competition to get him on a free if this is the case, with the wages they will have to pay also being much higher than what he would have been on if they got the deal over the line before starting this season.

Some might think that signing a āstop-gapā player might be best while they wait for Guehi, but Liverpool have proven before why this is not a good idea.
Instead, they still need to go big and sign someone who will be a key part of the present and the future, especially due to Virgil van Dijkās age and Ibrahima Konateās contract situation.
Joe Gomez is also too injury-prone, highlighting why a ready-made and reliable option is needed, with the Reds then needing to try for Guehi six months down the line.
Nico Schlotterbeck, Dayot Upamecano or even someone like Alessandro Bastoni could be a good option, as well as ones who could be important for the future.
