Merseyrail issue transport warning ahead of Everton vs Arsenal

Everton fans will be making the trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium for the final time in 2025 on Saturday evening.

Premier League leaders Arsenal come to town as David Moyes will be hoping for a bounce back result following the defeat last time out.

The mood going into the game is yet to be decided, with Everton fans waiting anxiously for updates on Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Everton fans have already expressed their anger at the fixture change, which has now pushed the game to an 8pm kick off on Saturday evening.

This is becoming something of a routine now as Everton have seen more late kick-offs added to their fixture list for the early months of 2026.

With fans concerned about how they will get home after the game, Merseyrail has now issued an update ahead of Saturday night.

Merseyrail issue travel update ahead of Everton vs Arsenal

Everton fans have not been impressed with the stadium transport, having already experienced some serious issues after the full time whistle.

It is something that is going to have to be ironed out by the local authorities, but not everything was going to be perfect from the start.

Ahead of the game on Saturday, Merseyrail have warned fans that their service will be ‘very busy’ between the hours of 18:00 – 20:00 and 22:00 – 23:30.

The dreadful transport links are surely putting Everton fans off attending these late games! 😡

The press release from Merseyrail has issued some pointers to the fans:

Sandhills is the closest station to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Trains will arrive every 15 minutes after the game on the Southport, Ormskirk, Hunts Cross, and Headbolt Lane lines.

More eight-car trains will be in operation

Liverpool City Council are working on Everton stadium improvements to improve the matchday experience for those fans attending the games.

Ultimately, the local services could be helped by the broadcasters not scheduling so many Everton games in the late slots.

Everton fans face another late home fixture

Everton have already seen two heavy defeats at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this season against Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.

There does not appear to be a better side in Europe than Arsenal at the moment, with Moyes expected to field a depleted side.

Roy Keane thinks Everton will score against Arsenal, but there has not been much optimism placed on the Blues going into the game.

Everton fans won’t be hoping for a one-sided scoreline that could see the stands empty well before the full time whistle, but some pundits certainly expect that.

Ahead of the game, Everton have praised their fans for the support shown across 2025; the players will certainly need it on Saturday.
