The Minnesota Timberwolves (17-9) are set to host the Memphis Grizzlies (12-14) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. CT. This game will be the first of three meetings between the two squads this season. Both teams are 7-3 over the past 10 games. A win tonight would move the Wolves to fifth in the conference, and for the Grizzlies, it would move them into the playoff picture.
Here's a full injury report ahead of Wednesday's game.
12/17 Timberwolves injury report vs. Grizzlies
Anthony Edwards (Foot) - OUT
Mike Conley (Achilles) - OUT
Joan Beringer (G League) - OUT
Rocco Zikarsky (G League) - OUT
Enrique Freeman (G League) - OUT
The Wolves have won their last two games without Anthony Edwards and Mike Conley. Edwards was first listed as questionable but has since been ruled out. Chris Finch has labeled this injury as game-to-game, so it's fair to expect him to return on Friday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Even without Edwards, the Wolves have plenty of talent. The Wolves' offense will mostly run through Julius Randle with Edwards sidelined. Jaden McDaniels is another player who will see an increased role with Ant out. Bones Hyland started in both games without Edwards, and it's fair to expect that trend to continue.
Mike Conley is out for his third straight game with Achilles tendinopathy. However, there's no indication that this is a long-term injury. In the meantime, Conley's absence will open up more minutes for Hyland and Rob Dillingham. Terrence Shannon Jr. and Jaylen Clark are two other candidates who could receive bigger roles.
12/17 Grizzlies injury report vs. Timberwolves
Ja Morant (Ankle) - DOUBTFUL
Brandon Clarke (Knee) - QUESTIONABLE
Zach Edey (Ankle) - OUT
Cam Spencer (Personal) - OUT
Javon Small (Toe) - OUT
Scotty Pippen Jr. (Toe) - OUT
John Konchar (Thumb) - OUT
Ty Jerome (Calf) - OUT
GG Jackson (G League) - OUT
As has been the case for the Grizzlies lately, their injury report is extensive. Outside of Ja Morant, Zach Edey's absence will be the most significant. He played in 11 games but is now out again with an ankle injury. Cam Spencer, who is shooting 50.8 percent from 3-point range, is another notable loss for the Grizz. Brandon Clarke, Scotty Pippen Jr., and Ty Jerome have been dealing with season-long injuries.
Morant is, of course, the heavy hitter of the Grizzlies' injury report, though. He missed nearly a month with a calf injury. Ja returned on Friday but sprained his ankle during Monday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers. At first, he was listed as questionable but has since been downgraded to doubtful. While it's promising that Morant was first listed as questionable, it's concerning that he has suffered another injury, and it seems unlikely that he will play.
