Merseyside journalist confirms our exclusive Adam Wharton news

Adam Wharton will likely get snapped up by a European giant soon with Liverpool among the clubs interested in the England international.

After a record-breaking summer that saw Liverpool shatter the British transfer record twice with the marquee signings of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, the club’s appetite for elite talent shows no signs of waning.

DaveOCKOP.com revealed in an exclusive report in November that Liverpool are keen admirers of Crystal Palace midfield and even held preliminary talks with the players entourage.

The 21-year-old Englishman has quickly stamped his authority in south London since arriving from Blackburn Rovers for a fee that could reach £22m in January 2024.

At that time, Palace were paying a hefty amount for a teenager coming out of the Championship.

But Wharton has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past 18 months, evolving from a promising youngster into a linchpin for both club and country. His instrumental role in Palace’s historic FA Cup and Community Shield victories has not gone unnoticed by elite clubs.

After last month’s reports from DaveOCKOP.com, the news has been confirmed. Speaking on a Daily Mail Q&A, Lewis Steele has now confirmed that Liverpool hold an interest in the Palace stalwart:

“Nothing imminent. I can’t see Liverpool signing a midfielder in January let’s say that. But I think Adam Wharton certainly has his admirers at Anfield. And he could be one to watch in the summer. We know two years ago they were very close to Martin Zubimendi, who’s now looking really good at Arsenal, so they parked the idea of signing a midfielder just because Gravenberch has emerged as a quality operator in there.”

“I think they are one [player] light in that role. You think of Endo whose only used in the last five minutes of games where they are winning. For me you want someone whose more of an all-rounder. Against City on Sunday, Adam Wharton was unbelievable despite being on the losing side quite comfortably in the end.”

“But he was pulling the strings in the first half, and I sat there thinking he would be perfect for this Liverpool team.”
