Newcastle United 2-1 Fulham: Joe Buck match reaction
Newcastle United v Chelsea: Both Eddie Howe and Enzo Maresca have plenty of injury worries to deal with ahead of their Premier League meeting at St James’ Park.
Both Newcastle United and Chelsea have a number of injury concerns to deal with when they meet at St James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Magpies and Blues were victorious in Carabao Cup matches in midweek, but the former had to deal with fresh blows to both Lewis Hall and, more worryingly, Tino Livramento. Livramento hobbled off the St James’ Park pitch on Wednesday night and is a major doubt for not only Saturday’s game, but also their upcoming league and cup matches.
Enzo Maresca, meanwhile, was afforded the luxury of being able to heavily-rotate his team for their visit to Cardiff City and could even leave the likes of Cole Palmer completely out of his matchday squad to keep him fresh for this weekend’s game. Eddie Howe, meanwhile, faces the prospect of having just two fit senior defenders to call on when the Blues head to the north east.
Here, we take a look at all the latest injury news affecting both teams ahead of Newcastle United’s clash with Chelsea at St James’ Park.
Chelsea injury news v Newcastle United
Liam Delap - out
A shoulder injury has kept Delap out of Chelsea’s last three matches. He is expected to return to action in the new year.
Estevao - out
Maresca confirmed that he would not have the Brazilian at his disposal on Saturday after he suffered a muscle problem.
Levi Colwill - out
Colwill suffered an ACL injury in August and will miss the entirety of the season.

Romeo Lavia - out
Lavia will not feature at St James' Park due to a thigh injury. No official timescale on his return has been set by Maresca.
Dario Essugo - out
A thigh injury will keep Essugo sidelined this weekend. He is yet to make his Premier League debut for the Blues.
Cole Palmer - doubt
Palmer was rested for Chelsea’s clash against Cardiff City as he continues to nurse an injury.
Newcastle United injury news v Chelsea
Kieran Trippier - out
Howe has confirmed that Trippier will return to action next month. The former Spurs man has been a major miss over the last few weeks.
Will Osula - out
Osula will not feature for the Magpies until January at the earliest.
Sven Botman - out
Botman has been to see a specialist on a back injury and has had an injection on the issue, although no timescale on his return has been set by the club. Howe admitted earlier this week that he was unsure when the Dutchman would return to the starting XI.
Emil Krafth - out
Krafth hasn’t featured for Newcastle United since playing 45 minutes against West Ham at the beginning of last month. Krafth has been ruled-out until January.
Dan Burn - out
Burn suffered a rib injury during Sunday’s defeat to Sunderland and was taken to hospital after struggling to breathe following the collision with Nordi Mukiele. Howe confirmed on Tuesday that Burn would be out for between four and six weeks.
Tino Livramento - out
Livramento was substituted against Fulham with a knee injury and Howe admitted post-match that it ‘did not look good’. It would be a huge surprise to see him available this weekend.
Nick Pope - doubt
Pope hasn’t featured since November but could be set for a return to the squad very soon. Howe confirmed to the Gazette on Tuesday that they would assess the former Burnley man ahead of the clash against Fulham, one that he was not deemed fit enough to feature in.
Lewis Hall - doubt
Hall missed the win over Fulham with a ‘minor hamstring injury’ and although Howe revealed post-match that the defender could feature against his former side, he remains a doubt.
Joelinton - doubt
Joelinton has been an unused substitute in both of Newcastle United’s last two games. The Brazilian has been suffering with a groin injury in recent weeks and will be used but only in ‘emergency’ circumstances.
