NBA insider names three most likely teams to trade for Jonathan Kuminga

Jonathan Kuminga’s role with the Golden State Warriors has stalled this season, and NBA insider Chris Mannix points to the Pelicans, Bucks, and Kings as the most likely trade destinations.

Jonathan Kuminga’s time with the Golden State Warriors has been a roller coaster this season. Once a key piece in the team’s “two timelines” plan, he fell out of the rotation entirely before returning late last season due to injuries.

This summer, Kuminga re-signed with Golden State on a two-year, $48.5 million deal that includes a team option for the second year.

The contract made him easy to trade in the future, but he started the season strong and even earned a starting role. Now, with the Warriors below .500, Kuminga isn’t playing, and a split between player and team seems likely.

NBA insider Chris Mannix recently identified three teams that could be the most likely landing spots for Kuminga.

First on the list are the New Orleans Pelicans. Mannix noted that the Pelicans are rebuilding around a young core and could offer players like Trey Murphy III, a sharpshooter and wing player, or Herb Jones, a versatile defender, in a potential trade.

Milwaukee Bucks were another team mentioned. With the Warriors looking to improve defensively, Mannix suggested Golden State could pursue Myles Turner if the Bucks decide to make moves, potentially improving the Warriors’ perimeter defense and rim protection.

Finally, the Sacramento Kings are also a potential suitor. They attempted to acquire Kuminga in the offseason, and the Warriors could revisit those discussions once Kuminga becomes tradable on January 15th.

Benchings this season in favor of players like Pat Spencer and Gui Santos have not helped Kuminga’s value, but his talent and athleticism make him an attractive asset.
