Fabrizio Romano says there’s a manager Chelsea really like amid rumours Enzo Maresca could go to Man City

Reports have suggested that Chelsea’s manager is the target of Manchester City should they part ways with Pep Guardiola at the end of the season.

As the Premier League giants prepare to say goodbye to arguably their best ever manager, Enzo Maresca sits high on the shortlist to replace him.

Chelsea don’t want to part ways with Maresca in an ideal world, however it has to be said that the relationship does not look particularly strong at the minute between him and the board.

It is believed Maresca doesn’t have the backing he thinks he deserves, and it remains to be seen whether that will have an impact when it comes to interest from City.

Chelsea big fans of Liam Rosenior amid Enzo Maresca to Manchester City rumours

If Chelsea are required to look for a new manager as a result, one name who will certainly be mentioned is Liam Rosenior, currently working at Strasbourg.

Fabrizio Romano has mentioned his name as a potential option for the Blues, with him being someone they ‘appreciate’.

He said on his YouTube channel: “One coach they appreciate for sure because he’s already part of the BlueCo group is Liam Rosenior, who is doing a great job at Strasbourg the other club of BlueCo group.

“But it’s just an appreciation for someone they know internally and they’ve been working with, but then at the moment to suggest that Maresca is 100% leaving that Maresca is going to Man City that Pep is leaving Manchester City that Chelsea are preparing their future, we are not at this stage at all.”

Rosenior one of multiple candidates for potential Chelsea job

Despite there being no ambition to sack Maresca, the realisation that he could be headhunted for another job is very real.

Chelsea have four names on their shortlist already to replace the Italian, with Rosenior being one of those they have done work on.

Cesc Fabregas is also on the list, as well as Premier League managers Andoni Iraola and Oliver Glasner.

Chelsea should realistically be doing everything they can to appease Maresca, with him potentially the best man out there to continue to lead this ambitious project at the club.
