Antetokounmpo addressed the recent report that details his agent's discussion with the Bucks about his future within the franchise.
Giannis Antetokounmpo set the record straight about the recent reports that he and his agent have engaged with the Milwaukee Bucks regarding his future within the franchise.
"I didn’t hear about the report," Antetokounmpo said Thursday. "If my agent is talking to the Bucks about it, he’s his own person. He can have any conversation he wants about it. At the end of the day, I don’t work for my agent, my agent works for me. And there are going to be conversations that are going to be made between him and the Bucks, and him and his other players, and him and other teams, and other GMs and executives around the league. It’s something that we can’t control.
"But at the end of the day, I personally have not had the conversation with the Bucks. I’m still locked in on my teammates."
In the wake of the team's zigzagging progress this 2025-26 season, ESPN's Shams Charania revealed earlier this month that Antetokounmpo and his agent, Alex Saratsis, are having conversations with the Bucks about the long-term outlook for the two-time MVP in Milwaukee.
Charania further added that a resolution will be made in the next couple of weeks.
Since then, the slump has continued for the Bucks. They have lost seven of their last 10 games with an 11-16 record. They were coming off a brutal 127-82 defeat against the rebuilding Brooklyn Nets.
As such, the group will continue to face challenges with Giannis still out for a few more weeks because of his ongoing calf strain recovery.
Right now, reports suggest that there is no clear and significant development happening yet around the Antetokounmpo trade front despite the never-ending league speculations for the Greek star.
"Right now, I’m focused on getting back healthy on the court and focusing on how can I encourage my teammates to be the best version of themselves," Antetokounmpo further told reporters, "After that, focus on how I can go out there and help them win games and get out of this hole that we’ve dug ourselves in.
"Everything else comes after that."
