Tottenham Hotspur could be without 8 players vs Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur host Liverpool on Saturday night in their latest Premier League fixture. Thomas Frank’s side suffered a humiliating 3-0 away defeat at Nottingham Forest last time out and will be eager to bounce back in their final match before Christmas.

Frank, appointed in the summer to replace Ange Postecoglou after impressing at Brentford, is under pressure following an inconsistent run of form and may look to strengthen his squad in January. Spurs have been without England striker Dominic Solanke, with an expected return in early January. Frank recently said: “He is back on the grass and training individually. I guess it’s good news when he posts on social media. The injury he picked up in July, it has dragged on for a while. When he is fully training, I will have news.”

Attacking midfielder James Maddison remains a long-term absentee following an ACL rupture, likely sidelining him until the 2026/27 campaign. Senegal international Pape Matar Sarr is also unavailable over the festive period due to AFCON duty. The 23-year-old has made 22 appearances for Spurs this season and will return next month.

Tottenham face additional injury concerns, with left-back Destiny Udogie sidelined until 2026 due to a hamstring injury. “Destiny, as I said after the (Brentford) game, picked up a hamstring injury at the end of the Newcastle game, so he’s out until January, unfortunately,” Frank said earlier this month. Winger Dejan Kulusevski is close to a return from a knee issue but will only feature when fully fit. Centre-back Radu Dragusin has progressed well after a knee problem, featuring for the U21s alongside new signing Koki Takai, though it remains unclear when either will return to the first team.

Takai joined Spurs from Kawasaki Frontale in July on a contract until 2029. The Japanese international has four senior caps for his country but has yet to make his Spurs debut. Yves Bissouma is unavailable due to an internal matter, further limiting Frank’s options for the match.
