ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel reported that the Pacers have made it “abundantly clear” that Ben Mathurin is available for a trade, in which the team can use him in a package to acquire a big man.
“They made it abundantly clear that Bennedict Mathurin is available in trade talks right now," the insider stated about Indiana. "They are going to utilize him to likely make a sizable upgrade to their front court before trade deadline because they don’t want to pay Mathurin a nine-figure deal."
Mathurin is enjoying a breakout season in 2025-26, currently averaging career-highs in points (20.1), rebounds (5.5) and assists (2.3).
He is set to become a restricted free agent after he and the Pacers couldn't reach a rookie-scale extension last October.
Previous reports already suggested that Indiana is determined to land their new center following last offseason's free agency exit of Myles Turner. In the midst of an awful campaign this year, the Pacers are preparing to contend again upon the return of Tyrese Haliburton (Achilles) next season.
As such, they were recently linked to two premier big men by several league sources.
