The Milwaukee Bucks are a much better team when Giannis Antetokounmpo is playing. But with the superstar forwardcurrently sidelined with a calf injury, winning games has gotten harder for them. As for their long-term outlook with the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, that appear to be just as cloudy — and concerning.
Rumors continue to swirl about Antetokounmpo’s desire to leave Milwaukee via a trade. Although he has already said that his focus right now is on the Bucks, that hasn’t really caused the rumors to go away.
On Thursday,Antetokounmpo once again addressed the rumors while speaking for the first time since suffering the calf injury. Antetokounmpo was asked about reports of his agent talking to the Bucks about his future, to which he responded with a long message.
“I didn’t hear about the report,” Antetokounmpo said, astranscribed by Eric Nehm of The Athletic.
“Again, if my agent is talking to the Bucks about it, he is his own person. He can have any conversation he wants about it. At the end of the day, I don’t work for my agent, my agent works for me. And there’s going to be conversations that are going to be made between him and the Bucks and him and his other players and him and other teams and other GMs, executives around the league.
It’s something that you can’t control. But, at the end of the day, I personally have not had the conversation with the Bucks. I’m still locked in, locked in on my teammates. Most importantly, locked in on me getting back healthy. And then locked in on my teammates and how can I help them from the sideline or encourage them to be able to play and play free. Because at the end of the day, it takes a toll on them too, right?”

Bucks fans demand honesty from Giannis Antetokounmpo
It’s the formal way of addressing the rumors, but at this point, fans just want to hear a clear yes or no answer from Antetokounmpo. Does he want a trade or not?
“He can put an end to it by saying he wants to remain a Buck.,” said a fan on X.
Another one said: “maybe as a “leader” he should figure out if “his agent” is trying to get him traded. I’m so sure Giannis just has nooo idea of what conversations are happening rn 🙂↔️”
From a commenter: “Boy, I sure hope there was a follow up question about whether or not his agent is acting according to his wishes.”
“The ‘I have NO idea what’s going on around me’ gimmick,” a social media user posted.
Via a different commenter: “I love Giannis but I wish he’d just be honest ‘I’m 31, this team sucks, yeah I’m exploring options that potentially don’t involve me staying in Milwaukee’.”
Said another: “If he doesn’t like the noise, he should tell us what he wants.”
In any case, this saga doesn’t seem to be ending soon.
