LA Lakers linked to Cavaliers veteran wing in a potential trade

Cleveland Cavaliers forward De'Andre Hunter is reportedly a name to monitor for the Los Angeles Lakers in a potential wing deal.

As the Los Angeles Lakers continue their hunt for a critical wing addition, a solid veteran from the Cleveland Cavaliers could be on their radar.

Forbes' Evan Sidery has stated that Cavs forward De'Andre Hunter is a trade target to monitor for the Lakers.

Hunter was acquired by the Cavs from the Atlanta Hawks during the 2024-25 midseason. This year, he is averaging 15.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game across 24 games.

From injuries and inconsistencies, the Cavaliers are currently dealing with a problematic downslide, losing seven of their last 10 games en route to a 15-13 record.

This is an unexpected progress for them following their compelling 64-win campaign from the previous season to lead the Eastern Conference.

If their slump continues, everyone can only monitor the Cavs' plans heading to the Feb. 5 trade deadline. And as they potentially seek immediate roster changes to improve, Hunter is definitely a name to watch for Cleveland, considering the interest that the 28-year-old will get as a reliable 3-and-D unit.

The Lakers have been constantly rumored to be looking to acquire a wing presence to strengthen their awful defensive identity. They were recently linked to two elite New Orleans Pelicans forwards, but the Pels are reportedly unwilling to make a deal.
