And on Thursday, this notion is finally validated by record books.
The Denver Nuggets superstar has surpassed the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the center with the most career assists in NBA history. Jokic pulled the feat 789 games fewer than the retired all-time great.
An assist to Jalen Pickett with about six minutes remaining in the second frame against the Orlando Magic has propelled Jokic atop the assist leaderboard.
Heading to the Nuggets' matchup against the Magic, Jokic is averaging a staggering triple-double stat line of 29.8 points, 12.4 boards and 10.8 assists, submitting an early strong candidacy for this season's MVP award.
By moving past Abdul-Jabbar, he is now at 50th on the all-time assists list. Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird (5,695) is up next for Jokic to surpass.
