Amid Jamie Carragher's ongoing spat with Mohamed Salah, Lionel Messi's comments about the former Liverpool defender have resurfaced.
The centre-back-turned-pundit made headlines in recent weeks with his astonishing rant about the Egyptian international, after Salah conducted an interview where he stated that the club had "thrown me under the bus." Sidelined for their Champions League victory against Inter Milan, he returned to the fold against Brighton, coming on as a substitute.
Carragher has stood by his comments, though, getting into a heated discussion with Gary Neville, Roy Keane, Ian Wright and Jill Scott when filming an episode of The Overlap. But Salah's not the only player who he's clashed with as a pundit.

Way back in 2022, while working on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football, Carragher revealed that Messi had reached out to him personally after the former Liverpool star stated Paris Saint-Germain signing the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner was not a smart move. The ex-defender compared it to Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer back to Manchester United, which he didn't believe to be good business either.
Carragher revealed that the Argentine wasn't happy with his comments and sent him a message in response. He said: "It was on Monday Night Football and I got a private message on Instagram. From the man [Messi] himself.
"I will not be showing private messages but he basically called me a donkey."
Carragher then added to the story on CBS Sports while covering the Champions League, stating that he received the message after stating that Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe couldn't win the Champions League playing together. Initially thinking it was from a "fake account," he then responded after the Argentine picked up his eighth Ballon d'Or prize the very next night, but he didn't get a response.

Matters between Messi and Carragher were so bad, though, that the former refused to appear on a CBS show with the former England international while the pair were in Miami. Host Kate Abdo had sent an invitation to Inter Miami, asking if the footballing icon would be willing to appear as a guest.
The MLS side responded to the request, detailing that Messi was not prepared to put issues aside and feature on the same programme as Carragher. Abdo said: "You know that we made an official invitation, extended one to Inter Miami and we asked him to come on the show. Do you know what the official response was from Inter Miami?
"Apparently Lionel Messi will not be doing any television show that Jamie Carragher is a part of."
Along with Salah and Messi, Carragher has famously aggravated Cristiano Ronaldo in the past. In 2022, after the pundit said that Man United would be better off without him on Sky Sports, the Portugal icon proceeded to shake hands with Gary Neville and Roy Keane, but chose to snub the ex-Liverpool man.
