DALLAS — The Detroit Pistons [suffered a close loss to the Dallas Mavericks](https://www.mlive.com/pistons/2025/12/pistons-erase-4th-quarter-deficit-drop-overtime-thriller-to-mavericks.html) Thursday night on the road in overtime and had to do so without one of their starters for most of the second half.
With just over 11 minutes remaining in the third quarter, starting guard Duncan Robinson had a knee-to-knee collision with Dallas’ Naji Marshall, which saw the veteran sharpshooter limp off the court.
He went over the Pistons’ bench for a few minutes, being checked on by medical staff before getting up under his own power and going to the locker room.
Robinson, 31, was initially ruled as “questionable” to return to the game before being downgraded to “out” with a left knee injury. For the game, Robinson had two points and two rebounds after shooting 1-of-7 from the field.
While Robinson wasn’t available to speak after the game, he was seen walking out of the arena on his own without any visible brace at the time. Coach J.B. Bickerstaff did not provide any update on the injury.
This season, Robinson has been a stalwart of the Detroit lineup. After being acquired by the Pistons in a trade this offseason, the eight-year veteran started the first 20 games of the season — the only Piston to do so.
He finally missed a pair of games earlier this month [due to a right ankle sprain](https://www.mlive.com/pistons/2025/12/pistons-starter-set-to-miss-first-game-of-the-season-vs-hawks.html).
Robinson is still putting up some of his best career numbers, averaging 12.3 points, three rebounds and two assists per game, while shooting 40.3% from three-point range.
The Pistons (21-6) owe plenty to Robinson for being a key presence in getting the team off to one of the best starts in franchise history, currently sitting atop the Eastern Conference.
The hope for Detroit will be that Robinson doesn’t miss any extended time, however the Pistons are the healthiest they’ve been this season, so the depth at the guard spot is stronger than it would’ve been just a few weeks ago.
