Olivia Smith has been nominated for the WSL Player of the Month award after two excellent performances in our wins over Liverpool and Everton in December.
Our No. 15 started the month with a spectacular goal against Liverpool, dribbling past two defenders before lashing a powerful strike into the bottom corner from 25 yards out to give us the lead over her former side.
Despite being named on the bench for the following game against Everton, Olivia came off the bench to score a spectacular volley late in the day, making the points safe in a 3-1 win on our first trip to Goodison Park.
While the award is for performances in the WSL, Olivia carried her excellent domestic form into European competition a few days later, scoring her first Champions League goal in our 3-0 win over OH Leuven.
Olivia is one of six players nominated for December's award; Everton's Honoka Hayashi scored in both of their league matches this month, equalising against us after scoring the winner against Chelsea.
Beata Olsson continued her flying start to life at Liverpool with two goals and an assist in December, while Olivia Holdt is nominated after netting a stoppage-time winner for Tottenham against Aston Villa.
Finally, Manchester City duo Khadija Shaw and former Gunner Vivianne Miedema are on the shortlist after racking up seven goals and three assists between them.
