What Jeremie Frimpong is now doing to avoid further injuries at Liverpool

Jeremie Frimpong’s injury record was immaculate before his move to Liverpool, with reports coming out now on what he’s adding to his training regime.

Jeremie Frimpong has endured a nightmare start to his Liverpool career following his £29.5 million transfer from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.

Frimpong’s issues began almost immediately, with a hamstring strain in late August that delayed his integration into the starting XI until mid-September. Just as he appeared to be finding his rhythm disaster struck again during the Champions League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Since that night in October, two months injured across his debut campaign so far has meant that Reds fans have not seen much of the new man.

What makes it even more frustrating is that the Dutch international had an almost flawless injury record at Bayer Leverkusen, rarely missing a game.

However, there is positive news. Arne Slot confirmed in his pre-Tottenham press conference that Frimpong is now back in the squad for Saturday’s away clash.

Now the challenge will obviously be for Frimpong to keep fit, especially as he has already aggravated his hamstring injury this term.

According to the Athletic, the 25-year-old has now been taught the “little extras” it takes to avoid injuries and is doing things like yoga and pilates to ensure his body is more robust heading into the second-half of the campaign:

“He has spent extra hours at the AXA Training Centre in Kirkby getting to know members of staff at the club a little better,” Gregg Evans wrote.

“This absence has taught him the importance of increasing the little extras that help prevent injuries. Although he already worked in an elite environment at Leverkusen and followed a strict training and recovery plan, he’s picked up new tips on maintaining his physical condition since moving to Liverpool. Frimpong now places a greater focus on yoga and pilates and is itching to get back.”

It remains to be seen if he will feature in capacity against Tottenham, but it is a positive step that he is now back.
