Arsenal likely to pocket over€6m from deal–Agent at work

Earlier this month, Il Messaggero reported Arsenal have a 40% sell-on clause in Nuno Tavares’ contract.

The left-back impressed for Lazio last season but was hampered by injuries in the second half of the campaign. He’s struggled in the ongoing season and due to financial issues, the Roman club are considering selling him.

There is interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and more details are emerging. These are details that could benefit Arsenal.

Il Messaggero – relayed by Since1900, report the player’s agent is working to find a new club. He’s testing the waters in Saudi Arabia and the aim is to bring an offer of around €15m in January.

It’s reiterated Arsenal will get 40% of what Lazio earn as the transfer fee. That is unusual but the Rome side got a good price when they signed the player permanently earlier this year. To make sure that they remained in some control, the London giants managed to add a hefty sell-on clause.

This means they can earn as much as €6m from Tavares’ sale, if clubs meet the €15m price tag.

Despite Lazio’s financial problems, they will be happy with that amount. They are clearly desperate, with Al-Ittihad in contact to sign the 25-year-old. Besides, Tavares’ value has dropped a fair bit since last season.

It is likely that Al-Ittihad will push for the move, with a January exit almost set to go through.
