Gremio don’t expect to keep hold of attacking midfielder Gabriel Mec much longer amid interest from Liverpool, according to reports in Brazil.
Bola VIP Brazil claim that the teenager could well snapped by the Reds soon.
They believe that Mec will be the subject of a “strong onslaught from Liverpool” who are deemed as the heavy favourites to sign the player.

The playmaker impressed whilst playing for Brazil at the Under-17 World Cup last month, helping his country reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
Mec has been linked to a Premier League team before
Chelsea had identified the youngster as a target during the summer of 2024, but the Blues could not find an agreement with Gremio at the time.
Since then, Mec has gone on to make his senior debut, making his first appearance against Monsoon FC in the Gaucho State Championship back in January. He has played two first-team matches in total so far.
Liverpool can not sign the player straight away
Mec is 17 years of age, and he won’t turn 18 until April. Due to Brexit rules, the Reds are not able to officially sign players from abroad below 18, so a transfer won’t happen next month.
However, a pre-agreement ahead of the summer window can be reached. Chelsea, incidentally, had a similar arrangement when they signed Estevao from Palmeiras.
The initial deal was reached in June 2024, but they had to wait until August 2025 for the move to be finalised.
It is open for debate whether Mec possesses the same level of talent as Estevao. The winger was already playing regularly for Palmeiras prior to his arrival in Europe.
Mec, in contrast, is far less experienced in comparison, despite only being a year younger. He might just need longer to realise his potential.
