**Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann thinks there is a chance that Alexander Isak will be sold by the Reds at the end of the season.**
The Swedish international has yet to recapture the form he showed at Newcastle before his club record £125m move to Anfield in the summer. Hamann says that a transfer to the La Liga champions may be on the cards if he can’t establish himself as first-choice ahead of Hugo Ekitike:
“If things don’t pick up for Alexander Isak come March or April, they’ll probably have discussions to sell him to a club like Barcelona in the summer.”
“There will be plenty of takers for Isak because he’s shown his ability at Newcastle. It also largely depends on the form of Ekitike, because if he continues to improve, it will be a struggle for Isak to get games unless he’s forced out wide.”
Barcelona are in the market for a new No.9

Robert Lewandowski’s contract at the Camp Nou is up next summer, and he is not expected to be handed an extension, as things stand.
Barca will be looking at potential replacements for the Polish legend, and Isak would certainly come under consideration. Whether they would have the funds to match Liverpool’s asking price is another matter entirely.
Would Liverpool seriously sell Isak?

There is no indication that [**Arne Slot**](https://walkon.com/blog/the-premier-league-manager-sack-race-the-top-5-favourites-to-lose-their-jobs/)‘s side would even countenance offloading the 26-year-old at this time. Speaking about his slow start, Isak said he has had similar spells in the past, and he is backing himself to get through it:
“I don’t really have the answer to that (why it’s been slow). The team – of course, it has been slow, but that’s how it is in football. There are always teams that fly, and then it goes slower for others. It is important to turn it around.
“And for my part, too, it’s not the first time in my career that I’ve gone through a period like this, or I’m in bad shape. That’s how a football career works, it’s just something you have to fight your way out of.”
