After starting the season extremely well, the Heat found themselves mired in a five-game losing streak heading into a road showdown with the Brooklyn Nets. The Heat snapped out of their funk, defeating the Nets 106-95, with Norman Powell leading the team in scoring with 24 points. Kel'el Ware shot 8-for-11 from the field for his 22 points, with Bam Adebayo dominating the glass, pulling down 17 rebounds while blocking three shots in the win.
Boston continues to be a surprise team in the NBA, playing without superstar Jayson Tatum and still finding themselves in fourth in the Eastern Conference. Most recently, they had a chance to make a statement against the team with the best record in the conference (Detroit Pistons), but ultimately lost the game 112-105. Jaylen Brown and Derrick White shouldered the load, combining for 65 points, 14 rebounds, and eight assists, but the Celtics didn't have an answer for the Pistons’ Cade Cunningham, who scored 32 points and dished out 10 assists.
