Will anyone trade for the Warriors' Jonathan Kuminga?

Golden State Warriors forward Johnathan Kuminga is one of the biggest names on the NBA trade block.

Kuminga, who’s averaging 11.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists, has seen his role with the Warriors significantly decrease this season.

“Jonathan Kuminga’s role has fluctuated once again with the Golden State Warriors, while his relationship with Steve Kerr has remained lukewarm,” Michael Scotto of HoopsHype wrote. “As a result, Kuminga is considered one of the top trade candidates across the league in the eyes of NBA executives once he becomes available to be traded on January 15th.”

The Phoenix Suns have been linked to acquiring Kuminga. But earlier this week, Scotto said the Suns have cooled on the idea of trading for him.

“The Phoenix Suns, who discussed several potential sign-and-trade scenarios for Kuminga over the summer, are not as interested now as during that time, league sources told HoopsHype.”

Scotto also ruled out the New Orleans Pelicans and the Brooklyn Nets.

"The New Orleans Pelicans were also previously linked to Kuminga, but it’s unclear where they stand regarding current interest. Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets, who were speculated by some at times to have interest in Kuminga, never showed much interest in the 6-foot-7 forward."

Kuminga had a solid start to the season, as he averaged 17.5 points over the Warriors’ first six games. He scored 25 points in a 131-118 win against the Memphis Grizzlies on Oct. 27.

But his role has quickly diminished as his future in San Francisco remains uncertain. He was a healthy scratch in three straight games before playing 10 minutes against the Suns on Thursday night. He hasn’t played more than 30 minutes in a game since Nov. 5.

Maybe a young team eventually takes a flyer on Kuminga. But for now, his situation in Golden State remains tenuous.
