Barcelona youth player not considering loan departure despite lack of game-time

As we almost reach the halfway point of the campaign, the upcoming January transfer window will give Barcelona the opportunity to tie up some loose ends, as far as the squad is concerned.

Although Barcelona are not expected to make moves in the transfer window, there could be a few outgoings, especially from the youth team.

One of the players who faces a precarious situation is Toni Fernandez, who has struggled with a lack of prominence in the first team despite being regarded as one of La Masia‘s top talents.

Fernandez not considering loan exit

A recent report from Diario SPORT has offered an update on the future of Toni Fernandez, suggesting that the youngster is not considering a move away from Barcelona on a loan deal.

It appears the player is not willing to follow in the footsteps of other Barcelona youngsters by moving elsewhere on a loan deal in order to find more regular game-time.

Fernandez wants to remain at Barça and make a breakthrough in the first team. That is his biggest goal right now.

This is despite the fact that Toni has not been a prominent figure in Barcelona’s training camp, let alone the first team.

At the age of just 17, it would perhaps be unfair to expect the young attacker to show up and start delivering for the first team.

However, Toni’s presence in the Barcelona team setup has been quite irregular. After starting against Girona earlier in the season, he has not featured prominently in Hansi Flick’s first-team plans.

The teenager’s goal is to now train harder than ever and maximise his opportunities in the Barça Atletic team. His desire to play for the Blaugrana hasn’t faded despite the limited opportunities in the first team.
