Enzo Maresca has been identified as a possible replacement for Pep Guardiola when he decides to quit as Manchester City manager.
Maresca worked under Pep at City before losing to pursue his own managerial career, moving to Leicester, who he led to promotion from the Championship, before moving on to Chelsea.
But, despite winning both the Europa Conference League and the Club World Cup last season, recent comments that the Italian made suggests he is not happy at the club, and that his relationship with the owners may be damaged.
And moving to City may be an attractive proposition for him, because he knows the environment well, and also because he may feel he may get the backing that he currently lacks.
Pep signed a new two-year contract at City a year ago, but indicated at the time it would be his last. And there is now speculation that he might to choose to end his tenure at the Etihad at the end of the current campaign.
