Liverpool are believed to be “very interested” in completing the signing of FC Midtjylland forward Franculino Dju, according to a new transfer claim.
The Reds have flattered to deceive in attack this season, with Mohamed Salah’s struggles standing out more than anyone, but Cody Gakpo also not at his best.
Meanwhile, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak haven’t yet justified the huge money Liverpool paid for them, with Hugo Ekitike the only new signing truly excelling since joining in the summer transfer window.
For that reason, reinforcements in the final third will surely be looked at in 2026, most likely next summer, even though some will already point out the money they have spent recently.
According to an update from journalist CF Bayern Insider Christian Falk [via TEAMtalk], Liverpool are battling Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich for the signing of young Midtjylland star Dju.
“The interesting thing for England is that FC Bayern aren’t the only club at the table! Premier League champions Liverpool are also very interested in him. So perhaps we might get an exciting poker game between Arne Slot’s side and Bayern Munich. Also, Borussia Dortmund is said to be interested in this player. Dju an exciting long-term option for Liverpool
Dju may not be a household name yet, but he is a young player with a bright future in the game, scoring three goals in four starts for Midtjylland in the Europa League this season.
The 21-year-old has netted 54 times in just 103 appearances for his current club, further showcasing his talent, and scout Jacek Kulig has lauded him, calling him “sensational from day one at Midtjylland”.
Dju could be looked at as a strong backup option to Isak and Ekitike, coming in as a great squad player, learning from two top-quality strikers and maturing over time.
The 14-cap and one-goal Guinea international will surely love the idea of playing for Liverpool, and while Bayern are also a huge club in their own right, the hope is that he also sees the Premier League as his ideal destination moving forward.
