West Ham Have Been 'Informed' Of Brazilian Legend's Availability As He Prioritises 'Return To London'

West Ham are aware that ex-Chelsea defender Thiago Silva is keen on a “return to London” next month, according to reports.

TEAMTalk claim the Brazilian’s entourage and intermediaries are exploring a move back to Europe during the January transfer window.

Silva returned to Brazil to play for his first club, Fluminense, when he left Chelsea in the summer of 2024.

However, his two sons are currently in the Blues’ academy and he is keen to be closer to his family. It means London is his preferred destination.

3 Premier League clubs are in the mix

It is believed that the Hammers, Crystal Palace and his former team Chelsea have been “informed” about Silva’s availability.

At the moment, there is no indication as to which of the three teams would consider making an offer. While he was an outstanding defender, it must not be forgotten that he is 41 years of age now.

Even so, Silva himself still believes he has a lot to offer, and he is said to harbour ambitions of being included in Brazil’s squad for the 2026 World Cup despite not having played for his country in the last three years.

West Ham are in the market for a centre-back

There will be plenty of Irons supporters who would welcome Silva to the club with open arms, considering the struggles the club have been having defensively.

Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has reportedly made reinforcing the middle of defence a top priority, and you do wonder whether a move for Silva would be seriously considered.

The defender‘s experience is unparalleled, having made 803 senior club appearances in his career, as well as being capped 113 times at international level. Whether he would be up for a regulation dogfight, though, is another matter.
