Ornstein Names Who Could Replace Maresca As "Chelsea Manager In The Future"

**Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior is seen as a future Chelsea manager, according to _The Athletic_ reporter David Ornstein.**

The highly respected journalist says that the 41-year-old, who guided Strasbourg to European qualification during his first season in charge at the Blueco club, is highly thought of at Stamford Bridge:

“There are many people who already saying Liam Rosenior at Strasbourg is going to be a Chelsea manager in the future, whether it’s in the immediate or medium or longer term.

“And that shows their contingency plans, like all well-organised top clubs will be in place in one way, shape or form.”

Maresca’s future is up in the air

---------------------------------

Ornstein was the one who reported on Thursday that current head coach [**Enzo Maresca**](https://chelseanews.com/blog/chelsea-news-enzo-maresca-john-terry-rotation-criticism/) is on Manchester City’s shortlist to replace Pep Guardiola.

The Italian has recently changed agents to Jorge Mendes and he has made some odd comments in recent press conferences that have raised questions about his long-term future at the club.

What has Maresca said about his future at Chelsea?

--------------------------------------------------

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Newcastle game, Maresca played down speculation about his future:

“I don’t pay attention because I know it’s not true. Now it’s important to understand the reason why this news was there. But it’s not my job – I don’t care at all.”

When pressed whether he would be at Stamford Bridge next season, Maresca gave a definitive answer:

“Absolutely, yes. Again, I have a contract until 2029, and this is speculation. I don’t have anything to add because I don’t pay attention, and if we continue to talk about that, that means I’m paying attention to that.”

It should be pointed out, though, that Maresca is not the only one who has a say on his future. The board assess the performance of the manager at the end of every season, and they will be keen to see that progress has been made.

While there are no plans to change the man in the dugout, Rosenior is clearly someone the Blues would consider if the head coach position becomes vacant.
