According to TMZ Sports, the nine-year NBA veteran was arrested in Arizona after failing to appear at a court hearing related to a protective order obtained by his wife.

Legal records indicate Rider failed to show up for a hearing that was set to decide whether the protective order would stay in effect. His wife, Vanessa, attended the hearing, and the judge ruled to keep the order active.

Authorities in Arizona confirmed that Rider’s failure to appear resulted in a warrant for his arrest. He was later detained and booked at the Gilbert Chandler Unified Holding Facility.

Rider’s attorney, Benjamin Taylor, said his client would not make additional comments on the matter. However, Rider had previously stated that the protective order was tied to an ongoing divorce and denied the accusations made against him.

The order was initially filed in July, with Vanessa alleging aggressive behavior toward both herself and their son. Rider has claimed he was not officially served with the order until December.

Earlier this month, Rider was also arrested in Gilbert for allegedly violating the protective order. Vanessa has maintained that the order was requested solely for safety purposes and asked that the legal process be respected as the case continues.

Rider spent nine years in the NBA playing for five different teams, most notably the Timberwolves, Trail Blazers, and the Lakers. Rider made the All-Rookie Team in the 1993–94 season and won an NBA championship with the Lakers in 2001.
