The Uruguayan departed Liverpool this summer to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
Darwin Nunez left Liverpool after scoring 40 goals in 143 appearances for the Reds, but it was a period of his career that was arguably the most divisive.
Whilst his relentless energy and desire to work got a lot of fans onboard, his lack of quality in front of goal and the rawness to his game frustrated many as well.
After being signed by Jurgen Klopp in 2022 in what was then a club record fee, he saw less and less gametime when Arne Slot took over, and it was best for both parties that he departed in the summer.
So that he did, where he went to Saudi Arabia to join Al-Hilal for in a £46m deal.
Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike came in as the forward’s replacements and time moved on at Anfield.
However, the former Liverpool man has now revealed that he wishes to return to one of his old clubs.
On Thursday, a fan on X asked Nunez if he would ever go back to his former club Almeria, to which the striker replied:
“One day I’m going to come back! Almeria is my home; I have a lot of affection for it and the best thing that happened to me was meeting my wife who gave me a beautiful family!”
Darwin Nunez spent one season with Almeria where he scored 16 goals in 32 appearances, which in turn earned him his move to Benfica.
There has been recent speculation that Darwin Nunez has already been eyeing up a departure from Saudi Arabia, but that was quickly cleared up and put down as just a rumour.
Algún día voy a volver! Almería es mi casa, le tengo mucho cariño y lo mejor que me pasó fue conocer a mi mujer quien me dio una familia hermosa! ❤️🙏🏽
