£65m player filmed wearing a Chelsea shirt amid rumours he could join Enzo Maresca in January

Chelsea fans can afford to get some bit excited after seeing a top transfer target in royal blue.

There’s less than two weeks to go until the January transfer window.

The Blues rarely rest on their laurels when the market opens, and they have already been active in reaching agreements for young prospects. Chelsea are planning a revenge swoop on Liverpool for some of their academy stars.

That seems to be the priority this window.

But Kobbie Mainoo remains on Chelsea’s radar, and another highly-coveted Premier League star could be a Chelsea player by the end of January. He’s already tried on the shirt.

All signs point to Antoine Semenyo being the biggest story of the upcoming January window.

Several Premier League clubs are interested in the Bournemouth star who has a £65 million release clause that becomes active in the new year.

Chelsea walked away from Semenyo in the summer, but they have been one of the sides linked with a mid-season move.

At £65 million, should Chelsea sign him in January?

The Ghana international appeared on Away Days’ Shirt Shopping on Friday, where he was picking out some of his favourite retro shirts. He picks out Didier Drogba’s shirt and makes some interesting comments.

Semenyo says: “This literally I was looking at the Champions League badge. It reminds me of that goal he scored against Bayern. Yeah. It’s perfect. I love it.”

Perfect you say? Hopefully, it’s not the last time we see him in a Chelsea shirt.

It was no coincidence that he went for Drogba’s shirt.

Semenyo explains: “Yes, I did play as a nine growing up to be fair. I did have a little stint in midfield as well, centre-midfield, people wouldn’t believe. But yeah, I loved Didier Drogba growing up. I always always wanted to play like him.

“So strong, so quick, great shooting technique, and yeah, always wanted to be like him. I think he just suits the way I play. Just left foot, right foot, can head the ball. I don’t know if I can head the ball, but yeah, he’s number one for me.”

Chelsea would have to beat out the likes of Man United, Spurs, Man City and maybe Liverpool if they want to lure Semenyo to Stamford Bridge.

There’s a reason the list is that long — he’s a top, Premier League-proven attacker. But the jersey feels perfect, and he would be following in his hero’s footsteps. Maybe the Blues can win this race after all.
