Real Madrid academy gem’s renewal comes with €150 million release clause – report

One of the highlights of Real Madrid’s recent Copa del Rey clash against CF Talavera was the debut of Jorge Cestero, one of Castilla’s brightest young talents.

The homegrown midfield star was already on Real Madrid’s bench for the games against Manchester City and Deportivo Alaves, but finally made his debut for the first team against Talavera in the Copa del Rey where he came on for a late cameo.

In eight minutes on the night, Cestero completed all three passes that he attempted and even went on to register a shot that was blocked by the opposition defence.

Renewal agreed

As reported earlier today, Real Madrid have reached an agreement with the youngster to renew his contract. Talks have been ongoing for several weeks, and it is only now that an agreement has been reached.

Building on that, Defensa Central further reports that Los Blancos have placed Cestero’s release clause at €150 million to ensure that he is not swooped away by any third party.

After all, he is seen to be one of Spain’s best talents in the No. 6 position.

Given Cestero’s development, it is close to understood that there will be interest in his signing come next summer and it remains to be seen what Real Madrid decide in that regard.

After all, they know of his talent and that he needs promotion to higher levels at the earliest.

Yet, the competition in the first team is not easy to break through with the likes of Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga already competing for the starting spot in defensive midfield.

Moving past the French duo, on that front, neither appears feasible today nor in the near future.

But what is clear is that Real Madrid hold Cestero in high regard and have moved to secure his future with a new contract shielded by an enormous €150 million release clause.
