A Mo Salah lookalike says his double should ditch Liverpool after his scathing remarks about the team. Ahmed Bahaa has worked as an impersonator of the Egyptian star for the past 10 years.

The café manager has starred in TV adverts and social media videos as a stand in for the Kop idol. Despite having a boat load of Liverpool kits for his lookalike work, the 36-year-old might end up binning them.

With the star forwards future in doubt Ahmed has urged his double to sign for Barcelona. “He should leave,” Ahmed, who is also from Egypt, told What’s The Jam.

“He’s given everything to the club, and instead of appreciating what he’s done, some people are now pushing him out. That’s no way to treat a Liverpool legend.

“It’s most likely that he’ll end up in Saudi Arabia, but personally I hope he stays in Europe. He has always loved Barcelona.”

During the decade of lookalike work Ahmed has met Salah, who he refers to as his ‘twin’. The 36-year-old who is now based in the UAE, gets stopped every day by hundreds of people in the street asking for photos and autographs.

The double work has ‘transformed’ Ahmed’s life - with a new chapter set to open in both their careers. Following the Reds disastrous title defence this season manager Arne Slot has dropped the 33-year-old from the team.

After their bizarre 3-3 draw at Leeds United on 6 December, Salah did a candid interview about how he feels like the club have “thrown him under the bus.” Despite fans and pundits slamming his behaviour, Ahmed has put the blame on Slot and the club.

The 36-year-old claims it is a planned decision from the hierarchy rather than a footballing one. Ahmed said: “Arne Slot, he’s not strong tactically.

“Without Salah last season, no one would’ve even talked about Slot. It’s clear from his interview that he’s absolutely furious — and he has every right to be.

“He’s not the reason the team fell apart. This looks more like something driven by the club’s management, possibly because of his salary or because they’ve already decided to push him out.

“It feels like a planned move, not a football decision.” Salah did return to the Liverpool team from the bench in the Kop club’s 2-0 Premier League win over Brighton on Saturday (December 13); he was left out of the squad for their 1-0 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League last Tuesday (December 9).
