Erling Haaland reaches Cristiano Ronaldo's Premier League goal tally in staggering time

Erling Haaland continues to rewrite the record books by equalling Cristiano Ronaldo's Premier League goal tally against West Ham.

The Norwegian fittingly took less than seven minutes to pull level with the Premier League's most famous No.7 with his latest strike.

The 25-year-old compounded the misery of favourite club, West Ham, by bundling home the opening goal at the Etihad on Saturday.

England teammates Nico O'Reilly and Phil Foden opened up the Irons after just six minutes before the latter squared for Haaland.

The striker was denied by Alphonse Areola with his first effort, but scored the rebound for his 18th Premier League goal of the season.

It is Haaland's sixth goal in his last three appearances against West Ham to take him up to 148 in 169 games in Man City colours.

To put that into sharper context, it has seen him drawn level with club legend Francis Lee, with only six men ever scoring more for City.

Haaland draws level with Ronaldo

Haaland has even equalled icons for the red side of Manchester, with his 103rd Premier League goal matching Ronaldo in 119 games fewer.

Al Nassr talisman Ronaldo hit that milestone in his 233rd appearance across two separate spells at Old Trafford before leaving for good in 2022.

His only Premier League goal at the start of the 2022/23 season - a 2-1 win over Everton - was his 103rd for the club at 37-years-old.

Ronaldo would only make another three more top-flight appearances in England before his bust-up with Erik ten Hag saw him exit.

Haaland, meanwhile, will have City legend Sergio Aguero in his sights to become the fastest man to hit 150 Premier League goals.

The Norway international has over 100 more top-flight appearances to score another 47 to shatter the Argentine's feat in 2018.

City's current No.9 has been breaking records since his debut season in England in 2022/23, when he hit 36 goals in the Premier League.

Haaland followed that up with another Premier League Golden Boot in 2023/24 with 27 goals in 31 games - 38 in 45 across all competitions.

The former Borussia Dortmund striker still hit the back of the net 34 times in 48 matches despite City's well-publicised struggles last term.

Haaland is now back on top form with 24 goals in his 23 matches in 2025/26 to take his overall tally to 10 in seven against West Ham.
